“A resource guide + journal to navigate the court process”
Every court process, case and experience is different. Everyone processes things differently, everyone grieves differently and everyone heals differently. The Placer DA’s peer-to-peer (Em)power + Resilience Project recognized this truth and decided to create this resource guide with the hopes that victims feel a little less alone in the criminal court process.
This book is designed to give victims court information they can look over at their own pace, to prepare them with a glossary of terms, questions and prompts for court hearings while also serving as a journal to help victims take notes, reflect and care for themselves during the court process. Survivors from the E+R Project also placed throughout the book quotes, personal tips and things that they wish they had known during their court proceedings.
This book resource is designed to be given to victims through a victim services unit, sponsored by the local county, district attorney’s office, non-profits and more. Future plans are to have this book for sale so organizations across the state can purchase these guides for their victim services unit.
***Anyone interested in sponsoring a book for a victim in Placer County can do so through the Placer Justice Foundation here.***
