Gina Chavez

Gina Leah Chavez is a mother to two amazing children, and she works full time as a Hospital Unit Service Coordinator at UC Davis Medical Center. It is through the greatest tragedy that she became acquainted with the amazing Placer County District Attorney’sOffice, The Empower + Resilience Project, and The Placer Justice Foundation. In June 2022 her precious son, then 18 years old, found her beautiful daughter, his baby sister, deceased in her bed. It was discovered through a thorough investigation that a 20-year-old man had provided her 15-year-old daughter with a counterfeit Percocet pill and left her dead after first taking advantage of her in every way imaginable. Gina now advocates in her daughter’s honor to help save lives, it’s what her sweet Jewels would do. The loss of a child is nearly unbearable to survive. She chooses to carry her daughter’s heart along with her broken heart to fight for the much-needed changes our state and country need to better protect the vulnerable. Gina is forever grateful to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, the amazing detective, and affiliates for obtaining the first murder conviction for fentanyl poisoning in the history of California for her daughter’s death. She is blessed to work alongside such amazing people advocating for justice with integrity, and to better protect and serve our youth, families,
and communities while bridging the gap between our District Attorney’s Office, legislators, victims, and survivors!
